ENG 24 /L 5 “THE BIG DOOR”

Represent one of Manhattan’s most storied fire companies with this tee honoring Engine 24 (Red Rover) and Ladder 5 (Phoenix)—collectively known as “The Big Door.” Stationed at 227 Sixth Avenue since 1925, they serve Greenwich Village, Soho, and the Meatpacking District and are adorned with layers of literary and cultural legacy. Ladder 5 even inspired William Carlos Williams’ poem “The Great Figure” and the painting “I Saw the Figure 5 in Gold” by Charles Demuth. Through tragic events like the Watts Street fire, 9/11, and the Deutsche Bank attack, these firefighters have shown resilience and spirit worth honoring.
