Capturing Bravery: Staten Island

A famous saying is that one picture is worth 1,000 words. If true, then our series of books, Capturing Bravery, speaks volumes of FDNY operations across the City’s five boroughs. Each photograph contained in this special, five-part series was originally featured inside the pages of WNYF magazine, the Department’s official training publication since the 1940s. In Capturing Bravery: Staten Island, our first title to be released, it’s clear how dynamic the borough’s fire activity and emergencies have been over the years. As you peruse this book, and the works of many talented Photographers, our hope is that as FDNY Firefighters’ bravery is reflected in these photos, readers will appreciate all the training and courage necessary to perform the tasks depicted herein.
